Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Remote BLOB Store installation Issue

Hi,

I was trying to install Microsoft SQL Server Remote Blob Storage(Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Remote BLOB Store[11.0.2100.60]) on my machine(Windows 7) and on Windows Server 2008 R2 and it gives me this error.

"The AlwaysInstallElevated registry key is set to 1 in either the HKCU or HKLM registry hive. If this installation is no successful please re-run the MSI with explicitly elevated privileges."

I have admin rights for the machine and I couldn't find any permission issue related to this.

Since it is saying that there is a possibility of succeeding the installation process, I pressed OK Button to proceed.

It starts installing it and in the middle it says the following error and role back:

__"Performance Counters Setup has failed. Reason:
Input string was not in a correct format."__

Any advise on this?

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

This error seems weird, Can you try running RBS setup from an elevated cmd window explicitly by running msiexec RBS.msi?

Thanks,
Vijendra.

Hi Vijendra,

First of all thanks for replying.
I tried that too. Could you please let me know what I have to check when I do it in CMD window? May be I have missed something.

Thanks,

Hi Vijendra,

I tried it in CMD with admin right like below:

msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS_amd64.msi TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="DBInstanceName" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1

Ans created the log file and same error is giving there. Part of the error message as follows:

Hi Oshadha,

I am not entirely sure what's going on here. Can you please attach the full log? That will help us figure out the root cause.

Thanks,
Vijendra.
